Mary learned the insurance business under the tutelage of her father, Norman McElreath who founded McElreath Realty and Insurance in 1955. While attending SEMO Mary obtained both her producer and broker licenses and began working with her father part time in the business. Not long after obtaining her BS in Business Administration at Southeast, Mary became a full partner in the agency and was eventually the sole owner upon her father’s retirement.
After over 10 years of business ownership Mary determined that she wanted to focus more on customers and less on business management. Her decision to merge with Capital Insurance & Associates provided her the freedom to better serve her customers. While Mary is well-versed in all insurance lines she likes to focus on commercial property and casualty insurance. Regardless of the particular type of insurance, Mary is committed to providing the best balance of coverage, price and service for all of her clients.
Mary has been heavily involved as a leader in the both the insurance industry and the local community. She’s held multiple insurance leadership posts, including president, with the Independent Insurance Agents of Cape Girardeau. Additionally she served as Small Agents Committee Director of the Independent Insurance Agents of Missouri. Her extensive involvement with her church found her serving on multiple boards and committees for Trinity Lutheran Church. Based on her stong interest in the community, Mary served several terms as a member of the Board of Directors of St. Francis Medical Center Foundation.
